Hello Everyone. Welcome to my new place. Come on in. The coffee is brewing. Take a seat and relax. It’s Thursday and I can’t think of a better way to start this new site off than with a Thursday 13 list. I feel like I have used all the good list of my life and now all I’m left with are silly little lists about nothing of substance. Hopefully this one will touch someone…..

13 People Places or Things that I miss
1. My best friend Carrissa. I haven’t talked to her in months. She went back to her husband after being separated from him for several months and filing for divorce. I was supportive to her during that time because he was abusive and mean and I wanted her and her children to have a better life. I’m not sure if talking to me will cause friction in her marriage now or what. I’ve thought about calling her many times but I haven’t. If she wants to talk to me she will call. Maybe that’s wrong or unChristian like of me, but I can’t help nor can I hide the dissappointment I feel about her going back to him.
2. My Youth. I miss being able to run up and down a basketball court for and hour and a half. I miss having an innocence that comes without knowing all the evil that exist in the world. I miss a time when I didn’t have to worry about how a I was going to make the house payment or buy groceries.
3. I miss my Daddy. I long to hear his laughter fill a room. I miss his ability to aggravate the snot out of me constantly for silly things. I even wish I could be reprimanded by him for mistakes I make on a day to day basis. I miss seeing him kiss and hug my child. I want to see him meet my nephew who never knew him. I wonder if he had not got cancer what would be different about our lives.
4. I miss having passion for my job. I’ve said many times that I do not have a bad job. I go to work 8-5 Monday through Friday. I make a decent salary, not great, but decent. For the most part I go home and I don’t think about work again until I get back there. But is that really such a good thing? I don’t know. I’d love to have a job that I actually care about. One that I love even. One where I have room for growth and a desire to do so.
5. I miss having a baby in my house. I remember that feeling of contentment that comes with knowing that this little human depends on me to survive and thrive and grow. I miss the smell of a just bathed baby. The feel of their breathe on my face as I lay there just watching them sleep beside me. I miss that undescribable joy that comes with watching them take their first steps or hearing them say “Mama” for the first time. (All this being said, I do not miss dirty diapers!)
6. I miss weighing 130 lbs. I know this is a shallow one but it is true. I even miss a time when I was able to suck my gut in. My gut now has taken over. The battle of the bulge is over and it has defeated me. I surrended to it.
7. New episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It’s true! This was my all time favorite hour long television show. This is the only series that I have every single episode on DVD and have watched them all numerous times. I wonder if Buffy would be with Angel or Spike. If Zander and Anya would have gotten back together. Is Willow still a witch? What a dork I am….
8. Since we are on Television shows….. I miss my Friends. I think it’s time for a reunion episode. Just a little something to let us know what Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe have been up to for the last couple of years. That show became such a part of my life. It was sad to see it go. The thing about friends is no matter how many times you see an episode it’s still funny every time. I miss that.
9. I miss vacations.. What am I doing wrong? As a child I remember going on so many vacations with my family. Granted I do have an extended family and sometimes I would go places with my dad’s family other times I would be with my family. Disneyworld, The beach, The mountains, Atlanta, Miami etc. It’s bad that I’m not giving my kids this joy in life. I just don’t know what I am doing wrong….
10. Hair bands… I’m talking Bon Jovi not like on Idol this week (Although that was enjoyable) but back in the “Shot thru the heart, slippery when wet, spandex, too much hairspray wearing days”. Motley Crue, Cinderella, Dokken, Slaughter, Warrant, Poison, and Ratt…. Man those were the days!
11. While we are in the 80’s mode… I miss feathered hair. Mine always naturally feathered so that was my favorite hairstyle. You know the flat on the top of head, parted down the middle and both sides feathered back so softly. Think Heather Locklear in TJ Hooker.
12. This one is going to be unspoken… This one is in my heart and is very special to me but is one that I don’t exactly want to share with the world.
13. I miss road trips. Or rather a time in my life when I had time for road trips. I love jumping in the car and taking off without anywhere to go or a time to get there. It’s a feeling of freedom that I miss most about that.
There you have it. What, where or whom do you miss?

I miss having my husband at home….his job keeps him in Washington DC much of the time and I am in Michigan.
I miss my children…they both live out of state.
I miss my darlin Darcy, our little Chihuahua that passed away 2 years ago.
Even with all that I miss I am still happy most of the time and and count my blessings for the good things I do have in my life.

1) My best friend Donna…….all the time.
But I did love Friends.
2) I totally miss being able to do some of the things I used to do, but don’t let that get out!
3) My Daddy………and spending hours out on the ocean in his little boat with him
4) Lord I know what you mean here, now I’m thinking maybe a couple more years and I may look for something different.
5) Ohhhhhhhhh another baby……..wouldn’t that be lovely! Perhaps I should settle for a puppy though, else I’d have alot of explaining to do ~wink~
6) I miss being slim so much that I’m now trying to fight the battle again! Some may call it vain, I call it making me feel good about myself.
7) Alas I wasn’t a buffy fan.
9) I yearn more and more everyday to fly off to Mexico or some such place, but at least I got to send the kids for a great vacation, and we do the camping family thing. That’ll have to do for now until I’m brave enough to fly.
10)Hehehe………I got to see some of them live back in the day, and I was shaking my mane right along with them!
11)Farrah Fawcett???? Need I say more!
12)Aw yes……….I have a heart one too…….
13)Wooooohooooooo Road Trips! I remember them fondly, may have to venture out again one day…….a person just has to DO IT!
Love the new place, been thinking of trying out a new spot myself.

Love your new site. Let me know how I can help you make it your own. Actually, Carrie is really good at it too. She’s always changing and rechanging hers. I just kind of leave it where it is.
What a great 13! I miss Friends too, although the last couple of years I kind of fell away from it. I felt like the whole Rachel-Joey thing just got too weird for me. I’m sorry about your friend, what a sad situation, it’s so hard for abusees to walk away! I know it all too well from past experience. Oh, how I miss road trips. I used to be the queen of them. I travelled everywhere with my friends, now, there is just no money or time it seems. So much more expensive with 3 than with 1 where you can stay in cheap hostels and eat on like a couple of bucks a day! I miss youth too. I would like my body not to feel so worn down all the time!
I love having a baby to smell after her bath. The newness of life is still with her, not quite as much but it’s still there. So unchanged by the world yet. It makes me want to protect her all the more. Although she is certainly a sinful and selfish being, she is lovely!
Take care,
Amy

Hey Susie.
I got bored while you were at lunch so i came by to read your list again. i dont think I really relayed to you what a great job you did with this list. You have a very inventive mind my dear…I like that. Sweet and warm all in one. (the list and you!)
Take heart…we may not be able to give our kids all that we had at there age, but you can give the most important things they need…love and and a caring home, which you do. You have nothing to apologize for or regret.
Lets see, one of legs still weighs 130, so I am okay in that regard…!
I’m with Warm….Farrah Fawcett all the way….I still had that famous poster of her up until my wife made me take it down last week…darn her!!!!
Have a great weekend girlfriend.

Hi Susan,
MSN loses another one huh?? I think they try too hard and all their fancy little things end up being annoying. Anyway I’m glad you found yourself a new cute little place here. It’s simple and pretty and I think I’m going to make myself comfy next to the coffee maker… I can’t drink it but I love the smell of it!
I hope everything is well and what I miss is simple… my life… I want it back.
hugs,
mt
ps. I hope your brother and hubby are doing well. I’m headed in for surgery again May 17th… ekkk… it’s creeping up on me.

Susan – What a lovely and touching way to commemorate a new start with this site! For the spoke and unspoken things you miss, God holds them all for you and one day everything will be made whole. I love your spirit and like I said so many months ago, I love your transparency. You are a blessing to so many people – me included.
Take care and I hope you have a great week!
